Danjuma Tella La’ah has emerged as the governorship candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Kaduna State for the 2027 election.
La’ah secured a decisive victory in the party’s substitution primary after polling 6,990 votes to defeat three other aspirants who participated in the exercise.
Ibrahim Abdulkarim came second with 530 votes, while Mohammed Sani Abbas scored 402 votes to place third. Zariyi Yusuf-Madaki received 194 votes.
The result was announced by the Returning Officer, Dr. Danlami Rukujet, following the conclusion of the primary conducted after party stakeholders reportedly failed to reach a consensus on a candidate.
In his reaction, La’ah thanked party members and supporters for their backing, saying the party’s attention would now turn to preparations for the 2027 governorship election.
The Kaduna State Chairman of the NDC, Modecai Ibrahim, said the party would campaign on issues and policies as it prepares for the election.
The conclusion of the substitution primary means the Kaduna State chapter of the NDC has now joined the growing number of political parties that have selected their governorship candidates ahead of the 2027 elections.
