Former Anambra State Governor and Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, presidential candidate, Peter Obi, on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, visited the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) facility in Abuja to sign the condolence register for victims of the recent aircraft crash.
Obi disclosed the visit in a post on his X account, saying it offered him another opportunity to reflect on the sacrifices made by personnel of the Armed Forces and other security agencies in the line of duty.

“Further to my message yesterday, I visited the Nigerian Air Force facility in Abuja today to formally sign the condolence register following the unfortunate aircraft crash,” Obi said.
He described members of the Armed Forces and other security agencies as courageous Nigerians who routinely put their lives on the line to defend the country and protect its citizens.
“These courageous Nigerians put their lives on the line to defend our nation and protect our people. We must never take their service and sacrifice for granted,” he stated.
Obi extended his deepest condolences to the Nigerian Air Force and the families, colleagues and loved ones of those who lost their lives in the crash.
“I extend my deepest condolences to the Nigerian Air Force and to the families, colleagues, and loved ones of those who lost their lives,” he said.
The former governor prayed for the repose of the souls of the deceased and for strength and fortitude for their families to bear the loss.
“May God grant eternal rest to the departed and give their families the strength and fortitude to bear this painful loss,” Obi stated.
He also prayed for the continued protection of all Nigerians serving the country.
“May God continue to protect all those who serve our country,” he added.
