A 33-year-old man, identified as Monsuru Musa, has been arrested for allegedly impersonating his father and writing a promotion examination on his behalf during an ongoing exercise organised by the FCT Civil Service Commission.

Monsuru was reportedly caught on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, the third day of the promotion examination, which was being conducted for workers in the Federal Capital Territory.

Power of Favour Advert

He was apprehended by security operatives deployed at the instance of the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, after he was allegedly found writing the examination for his father, Musa Mohammed, an employee of the FCT Fire Service.

When questioned by the security operatives, Monsuru reportedly claimed that his father was sick and was within the premises of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), where the examination was taking place.

He, however, allegedly admitted that his father had directed him to sit for the examination on his behalf.

When asked about his father’s age, Monsuru reportedly said his father was between 67 and 68 years old.

However, his father, Musa Mohammed, gave a different account of his age, claiming that he would turn 60 in February 2027.

During further interrogation, Mohammed reportedly told the operatives that he completed secondary school in 1982 and primary school in 1977.

Both father and son were subsequently handed over to the police for further investigation after making statements to operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS).

The circumstances surrounding the alleged impersonation are expected to be further investigated by the police.
