The Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Dr. Kingsley Tochukwu Udeh, has expressed confidence that the achievements of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah will strengthen the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Udeh, who made the prediction during an interview on TVC News’ Beyond the Headlines, said voters in Enugu State were likely to prioritise the performance and credibility of individual candidates over party affiliation when deciding whom to support.

Reflecting on the 2023 elections, the minister said the outcome demonstrated that “it’s not about party. It’s about the individuals fielded by the party.”
He pointed to what he described as Mbah’s achievements since assuming office in 2023, including road infrastructure development, transportation programmes and the establishment of Enugu Air, which he said had commenced regional flights.
According to Udeh, the governor’s performance had earned him considerable goodwill among the people, which he believes would translate into increased support for the APC following Mbah’s defection to the party.
“Now that we are in APC, the people will support APC as a party, not just because it’s a party but because the governor has done very well and deserves a second term,” he said.
The minister also expressed confidence that the Tinubu administration’s policies and interventions would strengthen the party’s appeal to voters, arguing that the President’s record would be an important part of the APC’s campaign ahead of the 2027 elections.
He reaffirmed his support for Tinubu’s re-election bid, stating, “At the moment, we have a president that has done a first term and is eligible for a second term, and is the candidate of our party.”
Udeh, who is also a member of the 2027 APC Presidential Campaign Council, said political leaders in the South-East were engaging stakeholders and sensitising voters on the need to make choices that would protect the region’s interests in the next political dispensation.
He maintained that the emergence of a president required consideration of Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones, while expressing optimism about the political realignments taking place ahead of the 2027 polls.
The minister added that South-East political leaders were working to secure commitments from the Federal Government that would advance the region’s interests and strengthen its political position in the country.
