The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has recorded a major political boost in Anambra State following the defection of former member of the House of Representatives and All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) chieftain, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyichukwu Ibezi, PhD, to the party.

Ibezi, who is also the Convener of the Reality Movement, declared his total support for the NDC, particularly the presidential aspiration of its candidate, Peter Obi, pledging to mobilise his political structure to secure convincing victories for the party and its candidates in the 2027 general elections.

Power of Favour Advert

The former federal lawmaker made his position known while joining the NDC, where he expressed confidence in the power of democratic collaboration in Anambra State and rejected what he described as the political alliance of progressives.

“Anambra is a democratic state, and Democrats are working together. We reject ‘progressives working together,’” Ibezi declared.

He further assured his supporters and the delegation of the NDC National and State Working Committees of his commitment to deploying his formidable grassroots network to advance the party’s electoral fortunes across Idemili North and South Federal Constituency, Anambra Central Senatorial District and Anambra State at large.

His entry into the NDC is expected to strengthen the party’s grassroots mobilisation efforts in the state, particularly as it prepares for the forthcoming elections and seeks to consolidate support for Obi’s presidential ambition.

Ibezi’s defection adds to the NDC’s political activities in Anambra, with the former lawmaker pledging to work towards convincing victories for Peter Obi and all candidates of the party.
