A meeting between the Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Wale Egbedun, and Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has triggered fresh political controversy amid allegations of negotiations over the allocation of principal officers’ positions in the state legislature.
The development emerged after photographs showing Seyi Tinubu with Egbedun and principal officers of the Assembly circulated, fuelling speculation about possible political negotiations and a proposed power-sharing arrangement.
Political sources have linked the meeting to an alleged sharing formula of 15 to 11, although the precise meaning of the figures and the terms of any proposed agreement remain unclear.
Further allegations circulating in political circles suggest that the discussions may have centred on securing positions for principal officers, potentially leaving other lawmakers uncertain about their place in the emerging political arrangement.
There have also been unverified claims that substantial sums of money may have featured in the alleged negotiations. However, no independently verified evidence has been presented to substantiate the claims, and the alleged financial dealings remain unconfirmed.
Another source claimed that the meeting also discussed the possibility of dropping some National Assembly candidates contesting under the Accord Party platform, raising questions about the implications of any emerging political alliance for the affected candidates.
The reported discussions have fuelled concerns among political observers about whether negotiations involving key political figures could reshape existing alliances and influence the fortunes of Accord Party candidates.

Some observers believe that any arrangement that sidelines candidates already contesting under the Accord Party could leave them disadvantaged within the broader political alliance.
However, the details of the alleged negotiations, the proposed 15-to-11 formula and the identities of any candidates who might be affected have not been independently established.
