Former Abia State Governor and Senator representing Abia North, Orji Uzor Kalu, has mourned the death of renowned Yoruba leader and Afenifere elder statesman, Pa Reuben Fasoranti, who died at the age of 100.

Kalu, in a condolence statement he signed on Tuesday, described the late nationalist as a respected statesman whose life was devoted to humanity, national unity and Nigeria’s development.

He said Fasoranti’s commitment to patriotism, democratic ideals and selfless service had distinguished his life and would remain an enduring part of his legacy.

“Pa Fasoranti lived a long and fulfilled life marked by patriotism, selfless service and commitment to the unity and progress of Nigeria.

“His contributions to democracy, good governance and national development will remain part of his enduring legacy,” Kalu said.

The senator extended his condolences to the deceased’s family, the leadership of Afenifere, the government and people of Ondo State, and the entire Yoruba nation.

He urged the bereaved family to draw comfort from the remarkable life of the late elder statesman and the lasting contributions he made to Nigeria.

Kalu also prayed for the peaceful repose of Fasoranti’s soul, asking God to grant his family the strength to bear the loss.
