The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has denied reports circulating on social media that he endorsed Labour Party (LP) governorship candidate, Senator Ishaku Abbo, ahead of the Adamawa State governorship election.

Wike, through his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, described the report as fake, insisting that he had neither endorsed Abbo nor declared support for any Labour Party candidate in Adamawa State.

The report had attributed comments to the FCT minister urging Adamawa residents to make informed and thoughtful choices at the polls, while purportedly declaring Abbo the most suitable candidate to lead the state.

However, Wike dismissed the claim, distancing himself from the purported endorsement and stressing that he had no relationship with the Labour Party or any of its candidates in Adamawa State.

He urged residents to disregard the social media publication, adding that he would personally announce his political preference whenever he decided to do so.

According to the minister, anyone seeking to know which candidate he supports should wait for him to make the declaration himself rather than rely on unverified social media reports.
