A political pressure group from Ebonyi State’s Ohaozara, Onicha and Ivo federal constituency has endorsed Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso for the 2027 presidential election, declaring that the people of the area would resist attempts to dictate their political choices.

The group, Oganivu Ohanivo, announced its position in a statement dated Thursday, October 29, 2026, signed by its spokesperson, Uneke Anayo, alongside Comrade Solomon Okorie for Ohaozara LGA, Dr. Agwu Nwogo for Onicha LGA and Mr. Tony Ajah for Ivo LGA.

The group’s declaration came ahead of Obi’s presidential campaign town hall in Abakaliki, where it said it would welcome the former Anambra State governor and the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) campaign team.

Explaining its endorsement, Oganivu Ohanivo said it had assessed the presidential candidates’ records and manifestos before concluding that Obi possessed the integrity, compassion and capacity needed to lead Nigeria.

The group cited Obi’s proposed investment in primary healthcare, education, digital technology and agriculture, alongside his emphasis on production, job creation and the growth of small businesses.

It also praised his record as Anambra governor, particularly his approach to public spending and investment in education, healthcare and security.

The statement said the group’s support reflected its assessment of Nigeria’s economic and security challenges, including rising living costs, out-of-school children, limited access to quality healthcare and insecurity affecting farmers.

“We declare affirmatively that ndi Ohanivo are strongly with Mr Peter Obi and Dr. R.M Kwankwaso and are actively supporting their candidacy,” the group stated.

It added that anyone claiming to speak against the endorsement did not represent what it described as the dominant opinion of the people of Ohaozara, Onicha and Ivo.

The group also took a swipe at the Minister of Works, David Umahi, accusing him and some of his political associates of attempting to dictate the constituency’s political direction.

“To the Minister of Works, Engr. David Umahi and some of his mentees who tend to play god and act like slave masters, we have a message for you. You will fail woefully. You can not dictate or decide for Ohanivo people,” the statement declared.

Oganivu Ohanivo further criticised Umahi over the condition of the Agbani-Nara-Isu-Onicha-Okposi (F113) road, describing it as a major federal road in the area that the minister had failed to reconstruct.

“A federal minister of works from Ohanivo who has failed to reconstruct the most important federal road in our area—the Agbani-Nara-Isu-Onicha-Okposi (F113) road—should be ashamed. He who lives in a glass house should not throw stones,” the group said.

The group maintained that the people of Ohanivo would not allow any politician to bully, intimidate or manipulate them into supporting candidates against their wishes.

It also urged residents to attend Obi’s campaign town hall at Citi-Hub in Abakaliki, expressing confidence in the NDC presidential ticket.

“Together, we will join hands with you to make Nigeria OK after your victory. Indeed, a new Nigeria is POssible!” the statement added.
