The Chairman of the Enugu State Capital Territory Development Authority (ECTDA), Rt. Hon. Uche Anya, has mobilised non-indigenous communities in Enugu State to support the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah and other candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.
Anya made the call on Friday, October 30, 2026, during the Nwanne Di Na Peter Mbah Rally held at Okpara Square, Enugu. The gathering, organised by the ECTDA, brought together members of various non-indigenous communities to demonstrate their support for the Tinubu and Mbah administrations.
Addressing the crowd, Anya, who convened the rally, said non-indigenes in Enugu had resolved to stand firmly behind Mbah and the APC, insisting that the communities would not support anyone opposed to the governor’s political ambition.
“ Ǹdi non-indigenes have mandated me as head of capital territory to inform you that they will not agree with anybody wey no gree with Peter Mbah,” Anya declared.
He described the gathering as a demonstration of the communities’ political commitment, adding that they were proudly APC and would not repeat what he described as their political mistakes in the 2023 elections.
Governor Mbah, who attended the rally, described the massive turnout as “democracy in action” and highlighted his administration’s projects in education, healthcare and infrastructure as evidence of its commitment to improving the lives of residents.
“Can you see the smart schools? Can you see the Type 2 primary health centres? Can you see the good roads?” the governor asked.
Mbah also credited the Tinubu administration’s reforms with providing additional resources for states to deliver development projects. He urged residents to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and vote for Tinubu, APC candidates and himself in 2027.
The governor further called on the Igbo to make strategic political choices, citing ongoing infrastructure projects, the establishment of the South-East Development Commission, the proposed gas pipeline and efforts to improve the operations of the Akanu Ibiam International Airport.
“With the strength I see here today… we are committing to do what? More! So what you should do is to expect more,” Mbah told the gathering.
Speaking on behalf of the non-indigene communities, the Sarkin Hausawa of Enugu and Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Special Duties, Alhaji Abubakar Yusuf Sambo, said the Yoruba, Tiv and other communities had benefited from projects and appointments under the Mbah administration.
“We are here to show love and to tell you that we are with you 4 + 4,” Sambo said, assuring the governor that the communities would vote for the APC candidates “from top to bottom.”
He also pledged that the number of non-indigenes expected at the rally would double during Tinubu’s anticipated visit to Enugu in November.
The rally climaxed with a formal endorsement of Mbah by the participating communities and the presentation of a cheque of ₦50 million to the governor in support of his political ambition.
Other dignitaries at the event included the Speaker of the Enugu State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Uche Ugwu; APC Deputy National Chairman (South), Dr. Ben Nwoye; Enugu State APC Chairman, Dr. Martin Chukwunwike; Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Dr. Kingsley Udeh, SAN; members of the state legislature, members of the State Executive Council, government appointees and party faithful.
