The African Democratic Congress (ADC) senatorial candidate for Enugu West in the 2027 general election, Juliet Ani, has warned OAU Onyema against parading himself as the party’s candidate, insisting that she remains the recognised flagbearer.
Ani, in a statement, said she had reviewed the court judgment but maintained that it contained no order directing the replacement of her name with that of Onyema.
She also declared that even if she decided to withdraw from the race, she would not surrender her candidacy to a member of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).
Questioning Onyema’s legal knowledge, Ani argued that he should understand that participating in the primary election of one political party disqualified a person from subsequently contesting under another party.
She alleged that Onyema participated in the NDC primary, lost and later sought to contest under the ADC, describing the move as a violation of the Electoral Act.
The ADC candidate warned that she would institute legal proceedings against Onyema if he continued to present himself as the party’s senatorial candidate.
“From now henceforth, any further impersonation, I have no other option than to sue you in court for impersonation. This is the last warning,” she stated.
Reaffirming her position, Ani insisted that she remained the ADC candidate for Enugu West Senatorial District, claiming that her name was still listed on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) portal for the 2027 election.
“Please be guided,” she concluded.
