Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has declared that the achievements recorded by his administration in the last three years are only the foundation of his development agenda, promising deeper reforms and consolidation of ongoing projects if re-elected in 2027.
The governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Ukoha Njoku Ukoha, disclosed this in a statement issued on Sunday, November 8, 2026, following Otti’s address at the South-East Conference of Dominion City Global in Aba, Abia State.
At the event, Otti described his administration’s achievements so far as a “dress rehearsal”, insisting that residents had yet to see the full impact of his development agenda.
“What has happened here is what I call a dress rehearsal, to let people know that they haven’t seen anything yet. What we have built in the last three years is just the foundation.
“So, the next four and a half years, we will use them to consolidate. And when I say consolidation, I mean consolidation – changes that are irreversible,” Otti stated.
The governor said his administration was more interested in delivering practical policies and projects capable of transforming the state than making promises that could not be fulfilled.
On electricity, Otti disclosed that his government had taken the remaining eight local government areas in Abia out of the regulatory arrangement of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), a move he said would strengthen the state’s electricity framework.
He explained that the development would support the expansion of power generation and distribution capacity, including the distribution of excess electricity to other parts of the state.
Otti also highlighted his administration’s monthly media chat as part of efforts to improve transparency and keep residents informed about government activities, policies and achievements.
He said the platform provides an opportunity for the government to communicate directly with the people and address misinformation, urging residents to follow the monthly engagements and other official communication channels.
On governance and inclusion, the governor reiterated his commitment to fairness, equity and merit, declaring that Abia does not discriminate against residents based on their state of origin.
He maintained that everyone living in the state is regarded as an Abian and treated equally, adding that appointments into his administration are based on merit rather than religious or other considerations.
The governor also challenged Christians to demonstrate their faith through practical actions, stressing that meaningful development requires hard work, commitment and personal responsibility.
He maintained that people should not expect miracles without making the necessary efforts, emphasising that faith must be accompanied by action.
Otti congratulated the leadership of Dominion City Global on the conference and the construction of its large facility in Aba, expressing admiration for the scale of the project and the church’s commitment to advancing its religious mission.
He further disclosed that his financial contribution to the project would be a personal donation and not drawn from government funds, stressing the need to maintain a clear distinction between public resources and personal commitments.
Earlier, the President of Dominion City Church, Pastor David Ogbueli, commended Otti for what he described as servant leadership and the transformation taking place in Abia State.
Ogbueli described the governor as an answer to the prayers of the people and encouraged him to sustain his development efforts.
He also stressed the importance of recognising and rewarding good leadership, arguing that societies would make progress when wrongdoing is condemned and positive contributions are acknowledged.
“If you want society to work, condemn what is bad and those that do it, praise what is good and those that do it,” he said.
The cleric said individuals and institutions that perform well should be recognised, encouraged and motivated to do more, adding that such an approach was necessary for sustainable development.
He also expressed support for Otti’s re-election in 2027, describing Abia as the only state working in Nigeria and a reference point for others.
Ogbueli further noted that effective leadership requires service, attentive listening and consistent communication, urging leaders to understand the needs of the people and communicate their vision in ways that inspire confidence and collective participation.
He cited improvements in infrastructure, electricity and the business environment as evidence of Abia’s changing fortunes and said the state was increasingly attracting positive attention across the country.
The conference was attended by the Chairman of the Campaign Advisory Council, Rt. Hon. Ude Oko Chukwu, alongside other top government officials.
