The leadership of Enugu State chapter of Online Media Practitioners Association Of Nigeria, OMPAN yesterrday, 20th November paid a visi to the state Chairman of Nigeria Union Of Journalists, NUJ Mr. Rex Arum at Enugu Press Centre, Presidential Road, Enugu.

The Deputy National Public Relations Officer of OMPAN Umeh Clinton in his opening remarks thanked the NUJ chairman for making out time to meet with OMPAN and also acknowledged the fact that embers of NUJ are like our fathers in journalism.

Mr. Umeh also told the NUJ chairman that we are here to inform him about our presence in the state and seek for a possible way to coexist in the state and also learn from their wealth of experience.

In his response, the NUJ Chairman thanked OMPAN for the visit stating that NUJ as a body that regulates the practice of Journalism in Nigeria would love to work with Ompan as no one can ignore the influence of social media, bloggers and online reporters in this modern day journalism.

He encouraged OMPAN members to seek proper qualification to be better equipped to practice professionally. He said they can do this by obtaining a diploma in jounalism, Mass Communication etc so as to improve their information reportage quality.

He Stated that bodies like OMPAN is Nigeria’s hope of ending garbage in garbage out information dissemination on social media and a means to regulate and dominate social media space, and promote good citizenship and become good media/Online ambassadors and Also help to promote peaceful, And healthy reportage.

Enugu State Chairman of OMPAN Mr Jonathan Ikechukwu thanked the NUJ Chairman and assured him of our readiness to work with NUJ and promote healthy practice in the profession amongst our members.
