National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) the umbrella body of all registered youth organization in Nigeria and the only Youth body the recognized by the Nigerian state is set to host a Gubernatorial debate across all the South East States involving the major contenders in the four states of the south east that the Governorship election will be taking place on the second of March, 2019.
Speaking to news men in his office, the South East Vice President of NYCN, Prince Chibuike Echem said “The SOUTHEAST GUBERNATORIAL DEBATE 2019 is aimed at bringing candidates together in a candid and open debate to afford the electorate the opportunity to have a clear understanding of each the candidates blueprint for their states.
We are also make frantic efforts to get Uk-Aide and British Council deeply involved in the entire process” he said.
He also assured that in their bid to ensure transparency and accountability in the process, they are involving South East Media Executive Round Table (SEMERT), Transition Monitoring Group (TMG), and
Peoples Creative Empowerment International (PCEI) as major partners of the project.
And enjoined all youths across South East to see this as their project and make it a success as this could help them in voting the right persons into office in the region.
Speaking about the media houses and organizations that will be involved in the process, Prince Echem said so far, the debate will be broadcast live on cable television via TSTV, all FRCN stations in the zone and Dream 92.5 FM Enugu while they make efforts to involve more media organizations.
The Debate will also be streamed live on major social media platforms across the globe.
The debate is slated to hold across the 4 states as follows:
Abia State 6th February, 2019
Imo State 7th February, 2019
Ebonyi State 8th February 2019
Enugu State 9th February 2019
Time: 7pm – 9pm respectively.
The other modalities will be made available to the public in the coming days.
