Member representing Nkanu East Constituency, Hon. Paul Nnajiofor has commended Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for bringing to an end, the age-long inter-communal hostilities between Oruku and Umuode communities in Nkanu East Local Government Area.
Nnajiofor said in a statement that the feat exemplifies Governor Ugwuanyi’s purposely leadership and commitment to providing a peaceful environment across the state.
The two communities had disputed land ownership for 30 years, resulting to persistent civil unrest despite interventions by successive administrations.
Gov. Ugwuanyi who had led successive peace interventions to the warring communities, promised an end to the crisis in line with its peace and grassroots development initiatives.
Leaders of the two communities signed agreement on land ownership and boundary delineation, at the Government House, Enugu.
Reacting to the cheering news, Nnajiofor who represents both communities at the state House of Assembly described Ugwuanyi as an instrument of peace in the Hands of God adding that the feat is like a dream and would remain memorable in the annals of history.
According to him “ Your Excellency, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, May I, on behalf of Nkanu East Constituency deeply thank you for your leadership concern, steadfastness, commitment and the enabling environment that made the Peace Accord between Oruku and Umuode possible .
“You are an instrument in the hand of God Almighty at this time in history to end this feud and the navigation of the return of Peace, Love, Concord and Unity among these brother Communities after many years”.
“It is like a dream to those that dreamt of yesterday’s memorial and indelible event. Sir you have helped us in Nkanu East to regain lost ground and glory to the shame of the devil and to the glory of God”.
