The city of Enugu woke up to sad news of yet another gruesome murder of a Catholic cleric, Paul Offu along Ihe-Agbudu road in Awgu LGA few months after Rev. Fr. Clement Ugwu, the parish priest of St Mark Catholic Church, Obinofia Ndiuno in Ezeagu Local Government Area all in Enugu State was killed.
Reacting to the ugly development, Enugu State police command said it has not identified those who reportedly murdered the Parish Priest of St. James Greater Parish, Ugbawka, Rev. Father Paul Offu Thursday evening.
The State Police spokesman, SP, Ebere Amaraizu, in a telephone exchange on Friday, confirmed the armed attack on the priest, which resulted to his death but stated that those behind the dastardly act were yet to be identified.
He enjoined the public to avoid any insinuation on the identity of the killers until adequate investigation is done.
“We are on top of the matter and everything is being done to unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident that claimed the life of the priest” the police spokesman said.
The Catholic Diocese of Enugu had through their social media handles announced the killing of the Rev. Father while traveling along Ihe -Agbudu road in Awgu local government area of the state in the evening of Thursday, August 1, 2019.
