ENUGU— The Enugu State Police Command said it has arrested one Chigozie Nwamba and his accomplice in Obinagu in Udi Local Government Area of the state over theft and vandalism of electricity equipments.

According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ebere Amaraizu, the suspects who are now helping the police in their investigation are involved in electric transformer and cable vandalism in the community with some of the cables and other items recovered from them.

“The Enugu State Command of the Nigeria Police Force through its operatives of the Udi Division acting on intelligence information and in partnership with neighborhood watch group of Obinagu Udi on 25/8/19 nabbed one Chigozie Nwamba over his alleged nefarious activities ranging from vandalization of community electric transformer accessories/cables located within the axis of St. Dominic Catholic Church Obinagu Udi.

“Following his revelation, operatives arrested his cohort identified as one Chibuike Igbokwe. Suspects are helping the operatives in their investigations in relation to their nefarious activities of vandalization.

“Recovered from the suspects included cables believed to have been vandalized from transformers as well as tools used in cutting cables,” the police spokesperson noted.

Meanwhile, the State Command of the Nigeria Police Force has reminded members of the public to be security conscious and able to find out incidents happening within their environment and continue partnering with the police for the safety and security of their environment.
