The Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV); an initiative of the Inspector General of police IGP Mohammed Abubakar ADAMU has expressed its displeasure over an alleged violent incident which allegedly occurred on 4th of March, 2020 at Elezuo/Umuchima street in okigwe, Imo state which left no fewer than three persons dead while others sustained various degrees of injuries.

Speaking to Journalist101, the national coordinator of Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV) CSP, Ebere Amaraizu said “the inspector general of police IGP Mohammed Abubakar Adamu has advised the youths to be law abiding and avoid acts capable of jeopardizing the peace in their community.

“The IGP means well for the youths thus, why he initiated POCACOV that’s not about force but systematic engagement of the youths.”

Amaraizu further expressed shock on the people that lost their lives and maintained that “such death are avoidable if these youths had shun cultism and live a positive life that will enable them contribute their quota to the nations’ development and growth but the wrong path they chose (some of them did out of ignorance) have led to this avoidable death.

“POCACOV is raising the level of consciousness and creating awareness on the inherent dangers in cultism, associated violence and other vices and also galvanizing stakeholders support towards reducing incidences and menace of cultism in our society.”
