What was supposed to be an avenue to help the needy in the society turned out to be a beating field of the poor and ‘supposed political enemies’ as the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama distributed his palliatives to the citizens of the state.

The loyal party members we learnt converged at Okpara Square in Enugu, (the venue for the sharing of the items) and to their bewilderment, were greeted by fierce looking men which some of the angry men described as thugs and some, bouncers.

Some of the infuriated party men who spoke on camera accused Onyeama’s PA, Mr. Flavor Eze of working against the Minister’s directive in sharing of the items.

One of the Kwushike (Onyeam’s political family) members identified as Hon. Peter Ilo said; “Flavor is sending in anti Onyema members inside the venue leaving those of us who have volunteered to die for Onyeama outside.

“Flavor hijacked what we are doing here today, he was admitting those loyal to Ben Nwoye and Juliet Ibekaku, leaving us who are firm believers of the Minister outside the square.”

He also accused the Minister’s aide of altering the list of beneficiaries to his own benefit.

On the beating of some party members, Hon Ilo lamented how they were manhandled; “If you see what they’re doing to us here,” he said.

“There’s even one barrister from Umulumgbe, if you see what they did to him! He was beaten up mercilessly, even his phone was stolen and his hand bangles collected.”

Speaking on the development, the APC Enugu State Chairman, Barr. Ben Nwoye disassociated the party from what he described as “shameful” and “painful”.

“APC Enugu state disassociates itself from this kind of palliative sharing where some people beat up their perceived political enemies who came to collect food. The hungry members of the society whom they tag their political enemies, they used the occasion to manhandle them and beat them mercilessly. APC Enugu State dissociates itself totally from that kind of palliative and politicization of palliative release by all those who organized the distribution of food and the beating of hungry citizens of Enugu State.

“It is a shameful day and very painful to me to hear that some hungry Enugu citizens were beaten up on basis of politics.

Mr Flavor Eze is yet to respond to the SMS sent to him for clarification on what happened at the time of this report.

  1. SAD! People That Went To Receive Palliative Beaten Up Mercilessly In Enugu…this is a false information to terminate people’s image. If anybody was beaten, the question here should be “why you”, “Where you the only person there”? Police, DSS and some security agencies were there, nobody was beaten. At the gate, some hudlums wanted to break into The venu and they were stoped. Is that why they said they were beaten. The shearing eas peacful and calm. I am commenting on a nutrial basises.
