The National Chairman of PEOGLA, Chief Chris Okoye, gave the commendation while speaking with newsmen in Enugu on Tuesday.
Okoye said that the move would greatly improve security and get security closer to the people.
According to him, the I-G did well in creating Police Zone 13 Command, comprising Anambra, Ebonyi and Enugu States Police Commands; among the four additional Police Zonal Commands.
He noted that with the sitting of the new Police Zone 13 headquarters at Ukpo community in Anambra State, the delay occasioned by distance to get to former Police Zone 9 as being experienced by people would be a thing of the past.
Speaking on the National Assembly renovation controversy, PEOGLA’s National Legal Adviser, Chief Nnabuike Ilo, said that political office holders should assist manage the available meager resources amidst global oil price fall.
Ilo, who is also a human right lawyer, said that the N9.25billion approved for the renovation of the National Assembly (NASS) complex is a misplaced priority and insensitivity by the NASS members.
“One wonders why either N27billion or even N9.25billion shall till be expanded on the said NASS renovation despite cutting health and Universal Basic Education budget by over 50 per cent.
“I call on all Nigerians to rise up and speak up against this abnormality,’’ he said.
