The Rivers state Commissioner of Police Joseph Mukan has commended the Inspector General of Police, IGP Mohammed Abubakar Adamu and the Nigeria Police Force for coming up with a community driven programme tagged POLICE CAMPAIGN AGAINST CULTISM AND OTHER VICES(POCACOV) which is aimed at sensitizing different stakeholders and awareness creation on the dangers inherent in cultism and other vices and with a view to Saving Nigerian Children and Youths from them, thereby, making our society safe and secured.
The Commissioner of Police Rivers State made the commendation on Friday, 28th August, when the POCACOV coordinator for Rivers State Command, Dsp Adullahi Yusuf Idi accompanied by other POCACOV Stakeholders in the state; Hon. Marshall Harry Israel, a federal commissioner Public Commission Rivers state, Amb Emmanuel Bulus and Barrister Chikwere Ogbugo paid him a courtesy visit in his office at Moscow Road, Rivers State, ahead of the Rivers State POCACOV Summit.
“I commend the Inspector General of police for this noble and laudable initiative which is aimed at liberating Nigerian children and youths from the claws of cultism and other vices.”
He also noted that; “cultism has also become a source of worry in our society now and also in Rivers State” and commended the efforts of POCACOV and its achievements so far in the State and assured of his continual support to help spread POCACOV message across the state and also assured of successful POCACOV summit in Rivers state.
Hon Marshal Israel and Amb Emmanuel Bulus as well as Barr, Chikwere Ogbugo thanked the commissioner of police on behalf of POCACOV stakeholders and Ambassadors in Rivers State and assured of their continual partnership.
Earlier, the Rivers State POCACOV Coordinator, Dsp Abdullahi Idi presented the overview of POCACOV on behalf of the National Coordinator, CSP Ebere Amaraizu and enumerated various interventions and outreaches carried out by POCACOV within the period under review as well as numerous success recorded by POCACOV.
Also present during the visit was the Police Public Relations Officer Rivers State command, SP Nnamdi Omoni and highlight of the visit was the formal presentation of POCACOV CAMPAIGN T SHIRT to the commissioner of Police to mark the preparations of the Rivers state POCACOV summit.
