The Commissioner of Police, Enugu State Command, CP Ahmed AbdurRahman MCPSS, MCJ, MNIM has dismissed the news that nine officers of the command is missing, describing the information as “false, malicious and misleading”.

The Command in a press statement signed by its PPRO, ASP Daniel Ndukwe said the incident didn’t happen anywhere in the state and enjoined the general public to disregard same as it never happened anywhere in the state.

“The attention of Enugu State Command of the Nigeria Police Force has been drawn to a false, malicious and misleading information published on 27th August, 2020 by one Chibuzor Akoma via “Daily Time TV” blog and replicated on social media claiming that nine (9) Policemen went missing in the State.

“To this end, the general public, particularly residents of the State, have been enjoined to totally disregard such falsehood being peddled by misguided and mischief-makers in its entirety, as such incident did not happen anywhere in the State neither did the Command confirm nor issue any statement in that regard.”

CP AbdurRahman also warned the “peddlers of such malicious, misleading and mendacious information capable of causing tension and affecting the tranquility enjoyed in the State, to desist forthwith,” stressing that “perpetrators will be made to face the full weight of the law.

He called on the residents of the state to promptly report any person(s) found and/or known to be peddling such fake and malicious information to the nearest Police Station or call the Commands emergency hotlines on: 08032003702, 08086671202, 08075390883 or 08098880172.

The CP further reassures of the Command’s commitment to always provide adequate security for the protection of life and property as well as the maintenance of peace and order in the State.
