The National Coordinator Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices(POCACOV) CSP Ebere Amaraizu has restated the commitment of the organization of the POCACOV/GOFEC Coal City Neighbourhood Football League Season 1 as supported by the Enugu State Ministry of Youth and Sports development towards helping to achieve POCACOV mandate of reuniting, reorienting and engagement of Nigerian youths through football thus giving them strategic leadership direction.

He made this known yesterday when he led the team of POCACOV/GOFEC Coal City Neighbourhood Football League on a courtesy visit to the Enugu state Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Hon. Manfred Nzekwe in his office at the state secretariate complex to consolidate on the partnership with his ministry.

According to him, “the future of any nation lies in the youth hence they need to be well guided, reoriented, mentored and given strategic leadership direction leading to national and socioeconomic development and that was why the Nigeria Police Force under IGP Mohammed Abubakar Adamu came up with the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices(POCACOV) aimed at saving Nigerian children and youths from the claws of cultism and other vices through various community oriented policing programme and taking the process of advocay, awareness creation and sensitizations, mentoring and reorientation.

“The POCACOV/GOFEC Neighbourhood Football League will be played across the states of the federation and that is why it will be coming season by season (clusters).”

Amaraizu commended Enugu State Government and the Ministry of Youth and Sports under Manfred Nzekwe and their partnership in the POCACOV/GOFEC Coal City Neighbourhood Football League Season 1, maintained that it has shown the responsive nature of the Enugu state government and the ministry in giving strategic leadership direction to youths for national and socioeconomic development as no fewer than two hundred youths from various Coal City neighbourhood will be picked by local, national and international clubsides.

Responding, the commissioner for youths and sports, commended the Inspector General of Police, IGP Mohammed Abubakar Adamu on the POCACOV initiative which is a youth oriented programme working towards ensuring strategic leadership direction and youth engagement through stakeholders support.

He also commended Domben Chisom the managing director of GOFEC Movies for identifying with POCACOV and pledged the support of the state government through his ministry for a successful event.

He further disclosed that the state government through his ministry has been on massive youth development and engagement as well as enterprenural activities.

The POCACOV/GOFEC Coal City Neigbourhood Football League Season 1 T-shirt and cap and fixtures with clubs from neigbourhood was handed over to the commissioner by Amaraizu.

The event will kick off on November 14 at Ngwo Park field while the semi-final and the final match will take place at the mainbowl of the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium Enugu under strict adherence of COVID-19 Protocols. The finals will attract the attendance of major football stakeholders, coaches and administrators across Nigeria and will be played under flood light with branded T-Shirts.
