…Passes vote of confidence on Governor Ugwuanyi and Senator Ekweremadu

Youths from Enugu West Senatorial district, has come together in one accord to denounce disunity, urging residents of the state to embrace peace for maximum progress and development and advised the youths to jettison political jobbery.

Addressing the press on Friday at the Enugu State Youth House, the youths which comprises of leaders of the different youth organizations from the five local government areas making up the senatorial zone, appreciated the efforts of Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi “in sustaining the peace and unity we have been enjoying over the years in Enugu State.”

In the communique which was signed by the General Convener and the Secretary General, Comr. Ebube Samuel Nebo and Mazi (Ozo) Okwu Nnabuike, respectively, they also expressed gratitude to the Senator representing the zone, Ike Ekweremadu and other stakeholders for their support to the state government for the sustenance of good governance and peace in Enugu West and the State in general.

The group cautioned those they described as ‘political jobbers’ to desist from acts capable of distorting peace and sowing seeds of disunity amongst the political leaders in the state and the people of Enugu West.

They noted that there was “need for our political leaders to control their supporters in order to minimize possible political instability or violence in Enugu West and Enugu State at large.

“The need for our leaders to encourage job creation to enable political jobbers to have a meaningful means of livelihood.”

“There is need for periodic symposiums on leadership to enhance the awareness, exposure and prepare the socio-political knowledge of our teaming youths.

“The need to revitalize industrial facilities in Enugu West to enable job opportunities for our youths. For instance, AVOP in Udi, Rice Mill in Aninri, and others.

“The need to address the issue of exclusion and nepotism in all elective and better opportunities made for Enugu West Youths (Monkey dey work and baboo dey chop).

“Enugu West Youth are marginalized in various government opportunities due for the empowerment of Enugu Youths,” the statement added.

In their resolutions, the Enugu West youths seriously cautioned against social media attacks on Ugwuanyi and Ekweremadu, pointing out that anybody found in the act “is proscribed as enemy of peace and progress in Enugu West and Enugu State at large.”

The group also threatened to institute a lawsuit against anyone perceived to be stoking flames of disunity in the state, stressing that “any youth of Enugu West and Enugu State who is not willing to adhere to the above communiqué will leave us with no option than to reply him or her in our best means of achieving peace.

“Knowing full well the constitutional backup against false information and character assassination, we also resolved that any youth found defaulting the above constitutional provision will contend with us legally. As law abiding youths of Enugu State we would not want to take laws into our hands.”

They added that “the governor of Enugu State His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Dr. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi and the Senator representing the good people of Enugu West, His Excellency, Senator Professor Ike Ekweremadu (CFR) are peace loving leaders and the youths of Enugu West are peace loving too. Notwithstanding, it is pertinent to note that no youth of Enugu State is more Enugu than the other.

“We therefore, call to order, the General Youths of Enugu West and Enugu State to stop any kind of blackmail and disrespectful act towards His Excellency the peace loving Governor of Enugu State, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Dr Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi.

“We also call on the youths of other senatorial zones to note that we the youths of Enugu West have never blackmailed or disrespected the senator representing them, and as such, they should do us a brotherly understanding by staying away from any act of insult or blackmail on our own Senator, His Excellency, Senator Professor Ike Ekweremadu (CFR).”
