Ifeanyi Okeke, the Chief Executive Officer of AutoEase; an Auto body firm that specialises in panel beating, auto body spray, oven bake etc., has been assassinated by yet to be identified gunmen.
Mr. Okeke Journalist101 gathered was assassinated on his way to his house located at Brick Estate, by Ekweremadu Drive, Independence Layout Enugu around 9pm on Sunday night after he went to pick up his kid from barbing saloon.
Speaking to Journalist101, a close family friend of the deceased said Ifeanyi Okeke was murdered in front of his 7-year-old son who ran home to call his mother.
“He was driving home and some people hit his car from the back, he came out to find out who hit his car, he was marched to lie down on the floor.
“He was commanded to lie on the floor after hitting him on the back and threatened to shot his son if he fails to obey them.
“He was shot on the leg and on his stomach. His killers only took his mobile phone but didn’t go away with his car.
“It was his son that ran home to call the mother that his dad has been shot,” the friend told Journalist101.
He was rushed to Posh Hospital, New Haven Enugu, where he was confirmed dead.
When contacted, Enugu Command Public Relations Officer, ASP Daniel Ndukwe who confirmed the incident said that their from Independence Layout Division quickly got to the scene of the incident, but unfortunately, the assailants had fled the scene.
He also said that the Commissioner of Police, CP Mohammed Ndatsu Aliyu has orederd the state CID to commence full scale investigation to arrest the perpetrators and called the public to come forth with useful information.
“Following information received on 04/07/2021 at about 2030hrs, that hoodlums were operating at Bricks Estate, Independence Layout, Enugu, Police Operatives attached to the Layout’s Police Division, immediately raced to the scene. On sighting the Operatives, the criminal elements fled, while their victim, later identified as Ifeanyi Okeke, whom they shot severally, was rushed to the nearest hospital, where he was confirmed dead by Doctors on duty.
“Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Mohammed Ndatsu Aliyu, psc, has ordered the State CID to launch a full-scale investigation and manhunt of the criminal elements in view of bringing them to book.
