Chief Superintendent of Police, CSP, Ebere Amaraizu has said that Taekwondo talent search is a platform of self discovery and strategic leadership direction for boy and girl child.

Amaraizu, the National Coordinator of Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices, POCACOV said this during the closing ceremony of the just concluded South East under 18 National Taekwondo Poomsae Competition featuring the Kiddies, Cadet and Junior Categories.

The event which was proudly supported by POCACOV was held on Saturday, 21st August, 2021 at Indoor Sports Hall of Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium Enugu.

Amaraizu hinted that POCACOV is in strong partnership with Taekwondo Federation and believes in the “use of Taekwondo game because of its uncompromising tenets of Modesty, Hardwork, Indomitable Spirit, Perseverance, Discipline and Self Defence for the girl Child.

“The Tenets of Taekwondo will help to expose our young minds to the realities of life involving hard work, Honesty, Integrity, Hard Work, Indomitable Spirit to face challenges and to discover themselves for a greater future.

Amaraizu expressed optimism that “Modules developed by the POCACOV Resource Centre, Enugu will engender a platform of Cohesion and stronger Networking that will help in promoting the game of Taekwondo at the grass root as earlier stated by Olympic Medalist Chika Chukwumerije.”

He revealed that “there will be POCACOV Taekwondo Talent Search as a platform for self discovery, deepen POCACOV Campaign Message and the Game of Taekwondo at the grass roots across the country.

“This will also serve as a tonic towards sustaining the gains and successes recorded at the just concluded event and towards making it stand the taste of time and live to the billing.

” It is also going to be in form of Mini Championship for Value Reorientation, Self Discovery and Strategic Leadership direction at the grass root Levels cutting across our various Neighbourhoods (OGBE).

Amaraizu, who’s also Enugu State Chairman of Taekwondo Board commended the Athletes and Coaches of Taekwondo games for their good work and dedication.

He also commended the uplifting Spirit of the Caretaker Committee Chairman of the Nigeria Taekwondo Federation, Chika Chukwumerije an Olympic Medalist who donated several Taekwondo training Kits to States at the occasion to boost their taekwondo Practice and discovery of young fresh talent of the boy and girl child from the region for National, African and International Competition..

At the Just Concluded South East under 18 National Taekwondo Poomsae Competition, Enugu Eagles came out first with 13 gold Medals,18 Silver Medals and 18 Bronze Medals; Anambra came second with 4 gold medals and 2 silver medals, while Abia State won 3 gold medals and 1 Bronze .
