The Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV) has identified inclusiveness and participation as a catalyst that will make the girl-child see themselves as transformational change for gender equality.

This was disclosed by the National Coordinator, POCACOV, CSP Ebere Amaraizu while speaking on the celebration of United Nations’ international day of the Girl Child which is celebrated on 11th of October every year.

While congratulating all the Girl child and stakeholders on the all important day with the Theme as “DIGITAL GENERATION,OUR GENERATION” Amaraizu noted that the girl child needs to be on a platform that will expose them to Digital inclusion and vast knowledge of technology leading to popular participation, self discovery and strategic leadership direction.

Amaraizu maintained that the platform will support them to perform optimally in both activism and leadership because Girl-Child are leaders and strong source of transformational change for gender equality (Goal 5; Gender Equality) of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

He however, expressed displeasure on how some girl child are sent for hawking, street dealings and begging, doing some activities that exposes them to an unsafe environment and making them prone to abuses and other obnoxious activities such as cultism, substance and drug abuse, sexual and gender based violence and instrumentality of child labour and object of trafficking in persons and called for a change in attitude.

He assured that POCACOV will continue to work with different stakeholders to raise the awareness that the girl child remains the strength of our home and the future of our Nation.
