The Police have rescued the victims kidnapped at the staff quarters of the University of Abuja in the wee hours of Tuesday by bandits who broke into the quarters and abducted six persons, including two professors.

There were reports that the abductors contacted family of the victims to demand N300 million ransom.

However a source confirmed that they have now been released without payment of any ransom.

The source said, “UniAbuja kidnapped victims rescued, unharmed, no ransom paid. Several arrests made!”

The Federal Capital Police Command spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, confirmed the development in a statement this morning (Friday), saying, “The FCT Police Command wishes to inform members of the public that all abducted victims of the University of Abuja were rescued and reunited with their families through a joint operation with other security agencies. More details coming soon.”

She also said some arrests were made.

An official of university , Dr Abubakar Kari, an official of the school, also confirmed that the victims had been rescued with no ransom paid.
