President of the United States, Joe Biden, has announced a ban on Russian energy imports over Ukraine invasion.

The move according to Biden is what he termed “targeting the main artery of Russia’s economy.”

“Russian oil will no longer be acceptable at US ports and the American people will deal another powerful blow to Putin’s war machine,” Biden said, speaking from the White House on Tuesday.

The move against Russian energy imports comes about 2 weeks after Russia invaded Ukraine.

Experts says the ban is expected to hike the prices of US gas but it is still unclear the extent to which the hike will get to.

“In the short term, you’re going to see prices definitely go up. How much, it remains to be seen, and where and how the void gets filled,” said energy expert Gianna Bern.
