Two popular Nigerian musicians have recently declared their intentions to represent their people at the Federal House of Representatives.
This is coming as youths are constantly calling for the resignation of old people in politics so the younger ones can take over.
Popular singer turned politician Olubankole Wellington Popularly known as Banky W, has declared his interest to contest for the house of representatives.
Banky W will be contesting to represent Eti-Osa Federal Constituency at the national assembly but this time, under the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Declaring on Friday, He tweeted, “We must engage with Nigeria where it is, not where we prefer for it to be. In 2019, we planted the seed. In 2023, by the grace of God, and with your support, we will win the seat. The time for just talking is over. It’s time to #TalkAndDo. I hope I can count on you. We move.”
Recall that Banky W had contested the same position in the 2019 election under the Modern Democratic Party.
Meanwhile, another popular musician, Justice Martins Okechukwu, popularly known as J Martins has also declared to contest for a seat at the National Assembly.
Abia born musician said he will be running to represent the people of Arochukwu/Ohafia at the Federal House of Representatives.
J Martins made this known via his verified Instagram account on Friday night.
He wrote, “It’s about time to take the necessary action and correct the mistakes of our fathers “Enough Is Enough” I will be running for the Federal House Of Representative Arochukwu/Ohafia Constituency Abia State come 2023. Join me in this struggle for a better representation for my people”.
Although the singer has not made public the political platform he will be contesting under, he is keen on making it a reality.
