No fewer that three persons have been feared killed as bandits on Saturday attacked Gurbin Magarya community of Jibia Local Government Area of Katsina State.
Reports says scores of people were injured and livestock belonging to residents of the community were also killed.
According to sources, the bandits who attacked the community around 10 pm came in motorcycles and blocked all entries into the community.
The source revealed the presence of soldiers and vigilante members stationed on the road leading to the communities from Jibia, made the gun men to flee. “They (vigilante members and soldiers) were very brave. They succeeded in repelling the attackers but, by the time they came, three people had been killed,” he said.
The source who spoke to Premium Times identified those who were killed as Muntari Naqawuri, Surajo Salisu and Musa Hassan. He said Mustapha Salisu, Basiru Abubakar and Muhammad Rabiu were wounded during the attack.
He said those wounded are receiving treatment at a public health facility in Jibia.
