Doyin Okupe, the vice presidential candidate of the Labour Party candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, has submitted his withdrawal letter to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
On June 17th, the Labour Party submitted the name of Doyin Okupe as Peter Obi’s running mate.
Okupe, who is the Director-General of Peter obi Campaign was obviously submitted to beat the deadline of the Electoral umpire and he held the position as a placeholder and would later be changed after the party stakeholders must have agreed on the suitable vice presidential candidate for the 2023 elections.
In a tweet on his twitter page, Okupe said a replacement will be announced by the party’s chairman soon
“This afternoon I submitted my withdrawal letter from the position of the Vice Presidential candidate of the Labour Party to INEC.
“A replacement will be announced by the national chairman of d party shortly.
“I feel greatly blessed to have been part of the foundation of success 4 the LP,” the tweet reads.
