Barr Ezeagbu Ikenna Collins, has dismissed allegation that he rejected his appointment as a Special Assistant to Enugu State Governor as a result of politics.

The lawyer who spoke to journalists on the 8th of October, said his decision is premised on larger good of his people.

Barr Ezeagbu made the clarification shortly after he was honoured at the Annual Teachers Training of the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools NAPPS, Enugu State Chapter.

He expressed joy over the honour given to him before teachers and said he decision wasn’t supposed to be used for politics nor intended to be used to score political points.

“There’s no need for me to take that position as the president of Opi Youth Movement and my interest shouldn’t take prominence over the collective interest of my people.”

Asked if the decision was because he’s a member of the OBI-dient movement, he said “this decision has nothing to do with party affiliation, its just my personal view to it.”

He further clarified that the delay in submitting the rejection letter was because he travelled out of the state the same day the letter was issued to him.

Mr Ernest Ike Ugwu, chairman National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools NAPPS Enugu State Chapter who used the occasion to present a cheque of One Million, eighty Thousand Naira (covering his six months basic salary as an SA) to Barr Ezeagbu said he wanted to encourage the young man for the bold decision because it resonates with his campaign of proper empowerment.

Mr. Ike Ugwu said he has been campaigning for leaders to do other forms of empowerment because using political appointment doesn’t achieve the desired result.

“The money given to these aides as salaries can be accumulated and given to more persons as a grant to improve their businesses. This form of empowerment doesn’t come with the baggages a political appointment attracts.

“When you give someone a political appointment, he spends all the money paid to him and even more, servicing the office and will be left with nothing at the end of the month.”
