Uzo-Uwani Council area has dismissed the purported endorsement of Frank Nweke, the Enugu State governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) by the local government.
The APGA governorship candidate had on the 15th of December, 2022, visited Adaba community, after which reports began to fly around “that Adaba and Uzo-Uwani Local government Youths had Dumped PDP, while Endorsing Frank Nweke Jr For Governor.
Rita Eberechukwu Anigbogu, the Director General of Hon. Chukwuma Ekwueme campaign organization said nothing can be farther from the truth than the claim.
According to Mrs. Anigbogu, “it’s laughable that anyone can insinuate that the People of Uzo-Uwani will jettison the PDP- a party that gave them the opportunity to produce a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
“Ordinarily, we wouldn’t have responded to this claim but in a time of social media misinformation and mischief, setting the record straight is the way to go before some persons that have no electoral value take our quietness for something else.
“When did welcoming a guest translate to endorsement? That was basically what happened even though information available to us says that the people were categorical in their support for their son; Hon. Chukwuma Ekwueme and other PDP candidates.”
She enjoined the general public to discard the “media endorsement” as nothing of such happened.
Similarly, a top government official from the LGA, Hon. Solomon Gwiyi, described the reports as “false and a figment of the writers imagination”, while urging the general public to disregard the report.
Gwiyi stated that although the candidate had visited Adaba community on the reported date, there was nothing like endorsement on the said visit.
“On sighting the candidate, a few Youths of Adaba who were present told him they will support their son, Hon. Chukwuma Ekwueme who is House of Assembly candidate of the PDP in the Constituency.
“Adaba/Nkume is the hometown of the present House of Assembly member representing Uzo Uwani Constituency, Hon. Barr Josephat Okika. It is also the hometown of the PDP chairman of our LGA, Hon. Jude Ifeanyi Okonkwo, so where will this endorsement come from?, he asked.
Speaking further, Gwiyi challenged him to “show us a video clip of the purported endorsement as. I’m sure nothing of such happened because of the sterling achievements of Gov. Ugwuanyi in the area.
“Through Governor Ugwuanyi’s intervention, the moribund comprehensive hospital was revamped.
“The Umulokpa-Adaba/Nkume-Ukpata-Onubuogbo road was a death trap and the den of Armed robbers, before the Governor, through RAMP gave us the longest and best earthwork road in the entire southeast.
