Senator Ibikunle Amosun, the former Governor of Ogun State is currently leading the governorship campaign of the African Democratic Congress, ADC in the State.
The former Governor, an APC Senator representing Ogun Central at the National Assembly, said he was leading the campaign of Biyi Otegbeye for the sake of continuity.
Amosun was the palace of Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo on a courtesy call on the Monarch.
The action of the former Governor might not be unconnected to his disapproval of the candidature of the incumbent, Dapo Abiodun.
In 2019, Amosun fell out with the APC when they denied his anointed candidate the ticket of the party. In protest, the the former Governor asked all his supporters to move to Allied Peoples Movement from where seven of them won elections into the state House of Assembly.
But on January 30th, 2021, the seven Lawmakers returned to the APCÂ which signaled the final return of Amosun to the APC fold.
Political commentators in the state are saying that the action of the former Governor Amosun my renew the the 2019 political battle in the state.
