Prominent human rights lawyer Femi Falana has accused Pastor Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), of operating business centers rather than churches.
Falana made this assertion during an interview with Sahara TV, where he voiced his concerns about the increasing commercialization of religion in Nigeria.
His remarks were prompted by Pastor Adeboye’s recent announcement regarding his plan to establish more churches across the country.
According to Adeboye, the aim is to ensure that congregants can find a church within walking distance of their homes.
Adeboye has recently found himself at the center of controversy, having linked Nigeria’s current exchange rate stability to divine intervention. He cautioned that, without this divine influence, the naira might have plummeted to ₦10,000 per $1.
He made these comments during the Special Holy Ghost Congress in Abuja, asserting that through his prayers and those of his followers, the naira’s decline had been successfully halted.
