President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has revamped his nominations for the South East Development Commission (SEDC) board, appointing Dr Emeka Nworgu as the new chairman in place of Hon. Emeka Atuma.
A statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Information & Strategy, Bayo Onanuga Additionally, added that the President has replaced all three previously nominated executive directors and added two more to the team.
One board member, Donatus Eyinnah Nwankpa, has also been removed from the board.
Hon. Mark C. Okoye will retain his role as the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the expanded 16-member board, which includes one additional member compared to the original board.
Stanley Ohajuruka has been appointed as the new executive director for finance, taking over from Anthony Ugbo.
Toby Okechukwu is now the executive director of projects, succeeding Obinna Obiekweihe. Chief Sylvester Okonkwo has been named executive director of corporate services, replacing Dr Daniel Ikechukwu Ugwuja.
The two new executive directors without specific portfolios are Chidi Echeazu and Dr Clifford Ogbede.
Barr. Ugochukwu H. Agballah, Hon. Okey Ezenwa, Chief Hyacinth Ikpor, Barr. Ifeanyi Agwu, Nasiru Usman, and Hamma Adama Ali Kumo have been retained as board members.
Other returning nominees include Edward David Onoja, Orure Kufre Inima, and Chief (Mrs.) Joke Adebayo-Chukwuma.
All nominations are subject to confirmation by the Senate.
Onanuga added that the “President Tinubu anticipates that the new appointees, as pioneers, will leverage their extensive experience and expertise to fulfil the Commission’s mandate and foster development in the South East region.”
