In celebration of this year’s International Women’s Day (IWD), the Dewdrop Foundation successfully hosted a comprehensive workshop for over 60 women focused on financial literacy, the world of digital banking, and strategies for launching and growing small businesses.
The workshop featured industry experts from organisations such as Zenith Prudential, Zenith Insurance Enugu, and Alex Ekwueme Federal University in Ndufu Alike, Ebonyi State, who inspired participants with sessions on self-development and resilience.
At the event, held at the Dewdrop Institute office, Mrs. Agatha Nnaji, Executive Director of the Dewdrop Foundation, affirmed that this initiative reflects their commitment to empowering women through education and skills development while fostering resilience and independence.
Mrs. Nnaji underscored Dewdrop’s dedication to driving positive change within communities, emphasising that the foundation’s core mission is to “empower women not just as recipients of aid, but as active leaders and innovators by providing them with resources and platforms to amplify their voices.”
She also highlighted Dewdrop’s efforts in caring for vulnerable elderly populations, ensuring they are treated with dignity and respect.
Addressing the pivotal issue of sexual harassment, Mrs. Nnaji reaffirmed the foundation’s “zero-tolerance stance and commitment to creating a safe environment where victims are heard and perpetrators are held accountable.”

She called for “a renewed collective commitment to these vital causes,” urging attendees to collaborate in building a society where women are empowered, the elderly are cared for, and everyone can live free from fear and harassment, expressing hope for a future defined by compassion, justice, and lasting positive change.
Dr. Chinelo Nwefor from Zenith Prudential highlighted the necessity for women to “build multiple income streams, take control of their financial destiny, and avoid becoming a burden.”
Similarly, Ezinne Arisa from Zenith Prudential presented her expertise, guiding participants through the benefits and potential pitfalls of digital banking. She encouraged them to think creatively about income generation, underlining the importance of problem-solving in navigating today’s economic challenges.
Barrister Chinwe Okwuonu from Zenith Insurance reminded participants that International Women’s Day also centres around speaking out. She passionately encouraged them to focus on self-development, emphasising that staying alert and addressing inappropriate male behaviour early can help discourage sexual harassment.
Professor Ngozi Eli-Chukwu from Alex Ekwueme Federal University in Ndufu Alike shared her personal journey, a testament to the power of determination. Her experience of overcoming adversity to become an Engineer and Associate Professor inspired attendees to believe in their potential. Her message of self-reliance and self-development was a powerful reminder that anything is achievable.
The participants, which included students and women from the local community, engaged eagerly, asking questions and sharing their experiences. The workshop provided a tangible opportunity for them to explore new career paths and acquire practical skills.

The day concluded with the Dewdrop Institute team showcasing their vocational programmes in Professional Care Services and Global Hospitality, further enabling participants to examine new opportunities and gain valuable skills.
