JAMB Educare UTME Nzuko Umunna
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has provided new insights regarding the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), highlighting the performance of underage candidates, incidents of examination malpractice, and ongoing investigations.

According to JAMB, 40,247 underage candidates were permitted to take the exam as a special concession to showcase their exceptional academic abilities. However, only 467 of these candidates—representing a mere 1.16%—achieved the minimum score threshold set by JAMB for exceptional performance.

The board stated that their progress will be further evaluated through three additional stages of assessment.

In its report, JAMB also revealed that 97 candidates were directly involved in examination infractions, while another 2,157 are currently under investigation for suspected examination malpractices. Additionally, 71,701 candidates were noted as absent during the examination period.

The board mentioned that candidates facing biometric verification challenges are also under investigation, and those ultimately cleared will be rescheduled to sit for the exam at specially designated centres.

Furthermore, JAMB indicated that results for specific candidates, including blind candidates and those classified under the JEOG category, are still being processed and will be released once finalised.

The board has announced that it will hold a press conference later this week to formally disclose individual results and outline the procedures for candidates to access their scores.
