Hon. Prof. Paul Sunday Nnamchi, who represents the Enugu East/Isi Uzo Federal Constituency, has asserted that lawmakers will focus on security challenges when the National Assembly reconvenes following the Eid al-Fitr and Easter breaks.

In a chat with journalists in Abuja, Nnamchi stressed the necessity for substantial dialogues concerning security, economic issues, and the deteriorating living conditions of Nigerians.

“The insecurity situation is worsening, with farmers being chased off their lands and kidnappers becoming more brazen,” he remarked. “We must strengthen our legislative oversight to address these challenges.”

He also pointed out the hardships faced by Nigerians, including soaring living expenses and shrinking incomes, indicating that the National Assembly is expected to concentrate on motions and Bills that respond to the population’s needs.

On the topic of his pending Bills, Nnamchi referred to the planned upgrade of the University of Agriculture, Ako-Nike, the College of Education Eha-Amufu, and the establishment of a School for Gifted Children in Trans-Ekulu, all of which he anticipates will be finalised before the 2025 legislative recess.

Additionally, the lawmaker called for improved remuneration for university staff, particularly lecturers, to avert a potential collapse of tertiary education in the country.
