The Senator representing Abia North in the Red Chamber and former Governor of Abia State, His Excellency Senator Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu, has extended his school outreach program to Ovim Technical School. The initiative is aimed at educating students on the dangers of cultism and gangsterism, while encouraging them to make positive life choices through education and skill acquisition.
During the outreach, the senator’s team, accompanied by the Ovim Youth Assembly and the President of Ovim Youths Association, Engr. Nnamdi Victor Ekebuike, engaged the students in impactful discussions about the destructive consequences of cultism, peer pressure, and involvement in criminal activities.
Speaking at the event, Engr. Ekebuike emphasized, “Our message to the students is simple: your future is in your hands. Cultism and crime destroy destinies. Education, discipline, and skill acquisition are the keys to unlocking your potential.”
They also highlighted the importance of embracing a disciplined lifestyle, staying focused on academics, and developing relevant skills that will shape the future of the students in a meaningful and productive direction.
The response from the students was overwhelmingly positive as they openly acknowledged and appreciated the numerous developmental projects of Senator Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu, particularly in the education sector.
One of the students said, “We are proud of the work Senator Kalu is doing. The books, school materials, and new classrooms have made a big difference. This visit has encouraged us to stay away from negative influences.”
The students are fully aware of OUK’s tireless efforts, including the renovation and construction of modern classroom blocks in various schools, the provision of textbooks, writing materials, and school bags — all at no cost to them — and the consistent advocacy for youth empowerment and skill acquisition, which has made a significant impact on their lives.
A teacher at the school added, “Senator Kalu has not only invested in infrastructure but also in the minds of our youth. This program is life-changing.”
This outreach was not just a success — it was a testament to the legacy OUK is building in the hearts and minds of the younger generation.
The PTA of the school, teachers, and the students of Ovim Technical School extended their heartfelt gratitude to His Excellency for his continued support and vision for a safer, more educated, and empowered constituency.
