The Anambra State Police Command has successfully foiled a kidnapping attempt and recovered a victim’s vehicle during a swift operation carried out by operatives attached to the Special Anti-Cultism Squad, Enugu-Ukwu.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the incident occurred in the evening of Friday, May 17, 2025. A five-man kidnapping gang operating in a black Toyota Corolla had double-crossed their victim at Amatu village, Agulu, and abducted him along with his black Lexus 350 SUV.
Following a prompt alert, the operatives launched a technology-driven manhunt for the kidnappers. The pressure from the police operation forced the suspects to abandon both the victim and his vehicle along the road at Isuaniocha before fleeing the scene.
“The victim has been debriefed and is in safe custody,” SP Ikenga confirmed in a statement issued by the command.
He further noted that the police are actively working on intelligence gathered from the victim to track down and dislodge the kidnapping gang. “The operatives have stepped up security surveillance in the area for possible arrest of the suspects and to nip in the bud any untoward situation,” he added.
The Anambra State Police Command has reassured residents of its commitment to protecting lives and property across the state.
