A former People’s Democratic Party (PDP) leader in Abia State, Hon. Osondu Onyekwere, has praised Senator Orji Uzor Kalu for what he describes as an unmatched commitment to infrastructure and community development in Abia North Senatorial District.
Speaking from Ntalakọ in Itumbuzo Ward, Hon. Onyekwere, a former councillor who served from 2004 to 2006, commended Senator Kalu’s leadership style, describing it as people-focused and impactful across party lines.
“What distinguishes Orji Uzor Kalu is the value he brings to leadership,” Onyekwere stated. “Leadership is not about titles; it’s about service, and Senator Orji has proven that through real development efforts that touch the grassroots.”
A key highlight of Senator Orji’s intervention, according to Onyekwere, is the ongoing construction of a 60-kilometre road linking Bende Local Government to Itumbuzo through Ntalakọ. About 10 to 12 kilometres of the road have been completed, with contractors working diligently to finish the rest.
“He is not just doing politics; he is building lives. That road project alone will transform the economy and connectivity of several communities in this district,” he said.
Beyond road infrastructure, Senator Kalu is also rehabilitating dilapidated school buildings in Ntalakọ and other parts of Abia North. Similar educational projects have reportedly been executed in Chito-Ulo-Bende and surrounding communities.
Onyekwere emphasized that Senator Kalu’s achievements should not be judged by party affiliation but by the results his leadership has yielded.
“This is not a party affair; it’s about the personality and quality of leadership. Whether you are PDP, APC, or any other party, you must acknowledge what Senator Kalu is doing. Anyone refusing to do so is making a big mistake,” he remarked.
In a passionate appeal, the former councillor called on people from all political backgrounds to rally behind Senator Kalu so that the district can continue enjoying the dividends of democracy.
“Let no one think of giving Senator Orji Uzor Kalu away to another zone or party. He is our own, and he must continue serving our people. I am a living testimony to what he is doing,” he concluded.
Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, who currently represents Abia North in the Senate, continues to receive commendation for his constituency outreach, which many observers say has raised the bar for legislative performance in the region.
