The Joint Security Team operating across Anambra State has recorded significant breakthroughs in its ongoing offensive operations, particularly within Anambra South Senatorial District, with the arrest of six suspects and the launch of a manhunt for a notorious cultist and gunrunner identified as “Kiss Me”.
According to the Anambra State Police Command, the operations, carried out in conjunction with local vigilante groups, are part of a sustained effort to assert security dominance across the state’s three senatorial districts.
Spokesperson of the Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, who disclosed this in a press statement on Wednesday, said the intensified operations in and around Oko Community led to the arrest of six suspects involved in armed robbery and vandalism.
“In the evening of May 19, 2025, two suspects—Anagor Chinedu, 25, and Anagor Rapuluchukwu, 23—were arrested at Ifite Village, Oko,” Ikenga stated.
“An English Beretta pistol was recovered from them. The suspects confessed to being members of the Beggars’ Confraternity and named their armourer as one ‘Kiss Me’.”
He further disclosed that security operatives have launched a manhunt to apprehend the said “Kiss Me,” who has been linked to cultism and illegal arms dealings in the region.
In a separate operation, four more suspects were apprehended following a distress call over acts of vandalism at the Federal Polytechnic Oko permanent site. The suspects—Chukwuka Usulor, Chukwuemeka Michael, Ikenna Oke, and Ebuka Okeke—were caught allegedly vandalizing electrical cables. A quantity of the stolen cables was recovered at the scene.
SP Ikenga emphasized the Command’s resolve to rid the state of criminal elements and maintain law and order.
“The Command remains committed in denying the criminals the space to commit havoc,” he affirmed.
Residents have been urged to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies by providing timely and useful information.
