As part of efforts to empower Nigerian youth with digital skills, the Enugu SME Center, in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy (FMCIDE), has taken the 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) initiative to corps members at the NYSC Secretariats in Awgu and Enugu East.
The sensitization campaign, part of the Enugu Tech Talent (ETT) Program, aligns with Governor Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah’s vision to build a digitally inclusive and innovation-driven economy in Enugu State.
During the outreach, corps members were introduced to a range of in-demand tech skills offered through the 3MTT Program, including Software Development, Product Design, Cybersecurity, Data Analysis, and Cloud Computing—completely free of charge.
The initiative was met with enthusiasm from corps members, many of whom expressed excitement at the opportunity to begin a tech career while serving in rural or semi-urban areas.
“I never imagined I could begin my tech journey in a rural location like this. Knowing this is government-approved gives me hope,” said Obinna Nwachukwu, a corps member stationed in Awgu.
Another corps member, Adaeze Umeadi in Enugu East, noted, “With these skills, I can work from anywhere—even after NYSC. This is a rare chance to change my future.”
Officials from the Enugu SME Center thanked the leadership of both NYSC secretariats for their support in making the sensitization effort a success.
“The future of work is digital, and programs like 3MTT ensure that young Nigerians, regardless of location, are equipped to thrive,” the organizers stated.
The outreach underscores a growing momentum in Enugu’s push to develop its digital workforce and ensure the youth are not left behind in the global tech economy.
