The Joint Task Force South East, Operation UDO KA, has reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to security, professionalism, and the protection of law-abiding citizens in the region, following a series of unfounded allegations circulated via Radio Biafra and various social media platforms.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, Lieutenant Colonel Jonah Eromosele Unuakhalu, spokesperson for the Task Force, dismissed claims made by Mazi Chinasa Nworu as baseless attempts to undermine the integrity and operational successes of Operation UDO KA.
“These allegations that Army Commanders in the South East held a meeting to coordinate attacks on innocent civilians are entirely false and unfounded,” the statement read. “There are no plans, explicit or implicit, by the Nigerian Army or its commanders to target law-abiding citizens.”
Since its launch in 2023, Operation UDO KA has conducted regular strategic assessments aimed at refining its operational effectiveness. According to the Task Force, the most recent review meeting was held on May 27, 2025, in line with international best practices to ensure transparency and accountability in its operations.
The Task Force expressed concern over what it described as a growing trend of misinformation orchestrated by individuals allegedly aligned with elements intent on disrupting peace and instilling fear in the South East. It warned that such fabrications are not only misleading but are psychological tactics aimed at sowing public mistrust, discouraging lawful activity, and even disrupting educational processes such as the ongoing West African Examinations Council (WAEC) exams scheduled for May 30.
“These narratives are deliberate psychological operations designed to isolate communities and create fear,” Lt. Col. Unuakhalu said. “We urge the public to disregard these malicious claims and go about their daily lives without fear or hesitation.”
Operation UDO KA assured residents that it remains steadfast in its constitutional mandate to safeguard lives and property while maintaining peace across the region.
