ARISE TV anchor and former presidential spokesperson, Dr. Reuben Abati, has cautioned President Bola Tinubu to be wary of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, warning that the former Rivers State governor has a history of turning against his benefactors.
Speaking on Arise Morning Show, Abati described Wike as “very rude and disrespectful,” particularly in light of the minister’s recent scathing remarks about his political predecessor, former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi.
“I think that Nyesom Wike is very rude and disrespectful because Rotimi Amaechi is his boss in politics,” Abati stated. “When he was local government chairman—or was it councillor—during Amaechi’s second term, it was Rotimi Amaechi that helped him to become local government chairman.”
Abati did not stop at Amaechi. He reminded viewers that Wike had also turned on other political figures who played pivotal roles in his rise, including former Rivers State Governor, Dr. Peter Odili.
“Who will Nyesom Wike not insult? He insulted Senator John Mbata, who was his godfather at some point. He also showed signs that he will insult President Bola Tinubu,” Abati warned.
Citing Wike’s recent comments about Tinubu’s handling of the Rivers political crisis, Abati said the FCT Minister is already setting the stage for future confrontation with the President.
“In that interview, he pointed out that if he had known that President Tinubu was going to declare a state of emergency in Rivers, he would have offered a different kind of advice,” Abati said. “That is already a signal to President Tinubu to know that this man you are dealing with, his only interest is his own interests.”
“President Tinubu should beware. Tomorrow he will abuse this same President Tinubu,” he concluded.
The remarks come amid rising political tensions in Rivers State, where Wike’s lingering influence and his clash with incumbent Governor Sim Fubara continue to generate national attention.
