The Anambra State Police Command has announced a series of major security breakthroughs during the past week, including the arrest of a man allegedly found in possession of a woman’s private part, the rescue of a kidnapped driver, the recovery of a stolen truck loaded with goods worth over ₦9.5 million, and the retrieval of an abandoned suspected stolen vehicle.
In a statement issued on 6th July 2025, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, detailed how operatives from Awada Police Station in collaboration with Anambra Vigilante Group (AVG) arrested 25-year-old Samuel Eze along Jude Onyekwere Street, Awada, Obosi at about 3:30 p.m.
“The suspect was found with a woman’s breast, which was immediately recovered and deposited at the morgue for preservation. The suspect is currently undergoing police interrogation for further investigative actions and prosecution,” Ikenga stated.
In a separate operation, the Command disclosed that its Rapid Response Squad (RRS) acting on credible intelligence at about 12:45 p.m. on 4th July 2025, successfully rescued a kidnapped driver and recovered a truck loaded with custard powder valued at ₦9.5 million. Three suspects were arrested at the scene.
“The suspects — Udegenyi Ugochukwu (38), Anayochukwu Okonkwo (47), and Good Odigili (47) — confessed that they diverted the goods meant for delivery to a warehouse in Asaba, Delta State. They abducted the driver, tied him up in a bush, and rerouted the goods to Enugwu Ukwu,” Ikenga revealed.
Additionally, police operatives from Obosi Division recovered a suspected stolen and abandoned custom-colour Toyota Sienna with registration number 736 JP and the inscription “Forum of Accountants Delta State”. The vehicle was found during patrol along Okpuno-Umuota Village, Obosi, at about 4:30 p.m. on 5th July 2025.
The Police Command has called on members of the public to come forward with proof of ownership if they are seeking any of the recovered vehicles.
“We invite anyone or any group searching for any of the vehicles highlighted above to present valid proof or evidence of ownership for verification and possible collection,” Ikenga urged.
The statement also reaffirmed the commitment of the Command to ensuring security in Anambra State through joint patrols involving the Police, Military, Civil Defence, Immigration Service, DSS, and Anambra Vigilante operatives.
“The Command remains steadfast in sustaining safety and security across the state as joint surveillance efforts continue,” Ikenga concluded.
