President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Senator Orji Uzor Kalu and four other distinguished Nigerians on their conferment of honorary doctorate degrees by the Federal University of Kashere (FUK), Gombe State, during the institution’s combined convocation ceremony.
Speaking at the event, President Tinubu described the honorees as Nigerians of “exceptional pedigree” whose achievements have helped shape the nation’s development.
Represented by the Vice-Chancellor of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), Prof. Ibrahim Hassan Garba, Tinubu said:
“I congratulate the four Honorary Doctorate awardees on their deserving consideration and conferment by this institution. Each of the recipients is an eminent Nigerian that has contributed significantly to Nigeria’s development from their individual fields.”
The President commended the honorees, drawn from public service, business, and other sectors, for consistently demonstrating integrity, excellence, and commitment to national progress.
“These are distinguished Nigerians with worthy credentials and a history of significant contributions in fostering positive change and development across the country’s landscape,” he added.
The ceremony, held at FUK’s main campus, formed part of the university’s third combined convocation, which celebrated both academic accomplishments and national service. The university said the honorary degrees were awarded to recognize Orji Uzor Kalu, a former governor of Abia State, and other recipients for their outstanding impact in their respective fields.
The event also provided a platform for stakeholders to reaffirm their dedication to advancing education and national development.
President Tinubu lauded FUK for honouring leaders who exemplify transformational service, noting that such gestures serve to inspire younger generations.
“Such recognition will inspire younger generations to pursue excellence and service to the nation,” the President said.
