Ohanaeze Ndigbo

One year after his passing, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has paid glowing tributes to its late President‑General, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, during a solemn remembrance event held in Enugu over the weekend.

Chief Iwuanyanwu, who died in July 2025 at the age of 82 while still serving as President‑General, was celebrated as a visionary Igbo leader who devoted his life to repositioning Ohanaeze Ndigbo and defending the interests of the Igbo nation.

Speaking at the event, the current President‑General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Senator Azuta Mbata, extolled Iwuanyanwu’s unwavering commitment to the service of his people.

“Chief Iwuanyanwu believed strongly in Igbo resilience and greatness. Above all, he defended the Igbo cause, unity and excellence; a struggle he was championing from the forefront till he passed while in active service for Ndigbo,” Mbata said.

According to a statement signed by Ezechi Chukwu, Ph.D., the National Publicity Secretary of the apex Igbo socio-cultural group, Mbata noted that as Ohanaeze reflects on the late leader’s legacies a year after his departure, the organization and the Igbo nation continue to pray for the repose of his soul.

Chief Iwuanyanwu’s memory lives on as a symbol of dedication, unity, and excellence—qualities that remain a guiding light for Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide.
